KEBEBASAN BERAGAMA DAN MISI EVANGELISASI DI TENGAH MASYARAKAT PLURALIS: SEBUAH PERGUMULAN DAN PROSES

Abstract
This article intends to explore two crucial topics that Christians struggle with in the context of a pluralist society. The first is the foundation of freedom of religion as essential in the dynamics of religious relations in a pluralist society like Indonesia. Second, the implementation of the Christian evangelization mission in the midst of Indonesia's pluralist society.
Using a systematic literature study, this article explores the foundations of religious freedom from the perspectives of two mainstream religions, namely Catholicism and Islam. It was found that the two mainstream religions basically provide a strong foundation for the recognition of religious freedom. Freedom of religion along with tolerance, dialogue and cooperation is an essential element in the dynamics of religious relations in a pluralist society. Based on the dynamics of pluralist religious relations, this article then presents a number of basic ideas about the implementation of the mission of evangelization in the midst of Indonesia's pluralist society. It is clear that the evangelization mission in Indonesia can take such forms, methods and approaches that are more relevant to the conditions of a pluralist society, without having to leave the essence or essence of the evangelization mission itself.
It can be concluded that freedom of religion is a fundamental expression of appreciation and respect for adherents of other religions in order to create a harmonious life together. Along with that, dialogue and cooperation must go hand in hand and the role of religious leaders in this case is very much needed. However, the practice does not always run ideally in reality. This is all a process of becoming, this is part of the struggle of believers and their leaders, just as implementing a contextual mission of evangelization in a pluralist society in Indonesia is a process and a struggle as well.
